Onion Dip Oh MY!!!!

I bought something yesterday that took me back at least 35 years.....Trader Joe's Caramelized Onion Dip. I remember this flavor from when I was a child/teenager. I believe the brand was French's. The dip came in a foil cup with a peel away foil lid. Apparently someone like Kraft bought this brand and poof! gone was the outrageously divine onion dip! The artificially flavored onion dip found in the typical grocery store today is just gross! I thought that dip was gone forever! Thanks Trader Joe's, now I have something scrumptous to dip my pork rinds in!!

Chipotle Grill a no carb no no

We almost tried Chipotle Grill tonight, but once we got there, the menu proved to be too low carb unfriendly! The line was very long and that gave us ample opportunity to realize this was a bad choice for us! SO....we left and went to Moe's instead. I wanted to try the new spinach chicken burrito (naked, of course) except they were out of spinach! Instead, got my low carb standby of the naked close talker!!! This is the only way to eat low carb mexican food! I get the romaine base with chicken, cheese, cukes, black olives, grilled veggies, and pico de gallo, all topped with a dollop of sour cream and a few squeezes of the chipotle ranch dressing. AND....they were giving away free queso tonight!!! We left full and happy. Sorry to say, I don't think that would happen at Chipotle Grill.....guess this turned in to a shout out to Moe's instead of a review of Chipotle! Oh well, I'll have to review Chipotle Grill if I ever start eating carbs again!!! What can I say? YAY MOES!!

Panera Bread

It's official! Panera Bread is coming to Fayetteville!! This great news, however, is overshadowed by the fact that it is going to be on Skibo....and not just Skibo, but at one of the more icky places, in my opinion. It's going to be somewhere near K-Mart. Why, oh why, does everything have to be on Skibo???? This makes me scream!!! Just so the merchants know....I stay as far away from Skibo as I can on any day that is a holiday or weekend. I am very selective about when I drive on that crazy raceway!

So....Panera Bread: good; Skibo: bad!

Confusion at Moe's

So, guys, today Nick and I went to Moe's. I am such a creature of habit! I usually get the John Coctastan quesadilla, but today I changed up my order. My food was yummy as usual, but I got so confused and frustrated that I will probably stick to the JC combo from now on! The poor clerk did nothing wrong, but we just weren't communicating. I guess that's what happens when I get a day off from school! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Quiznos a no go!

I am sorry that my first real post this summer is going to be a gripe, but to quote my husband, "I'm not coming in here anymore with you because you always get mad!" I hate to admit it but he's right. I was first introduced to Quiznos on Skibo Road. The owner/manager there is really nice, and I fell in love with the "toasty goodness" they served. A couple of years ago, a new Quiznos opened on Walter Reed Rd, much closer to our house. I have never liked that location. I feel the customer service is so inferior to other Quiznos I have visited. Today was a perfect example of how not to treat your customers. First of all, I find their menu board to be incredibly hard to read. The hodge podge arrangement of announcements on the glass does not a menu make. I had tried the Torpedo previously, and I liked it okay, but really just wanted a plain old tuna sandwich. It took about five minutes to finally find a tuna melt listed under "classics". This was not on the menu board by the way, but on a menu taped to the glass where you place your order. The young woman taking my order did not ask me how I wanted my sandwich, but I figured that I would be asked later down the "line", after the toasting. No further contact was made until the clerk at the register began putting my sandwich in a plastic bag....the order wasn't to go. The middle person (who I believe to be the manager) takes my sandwich, cuts off the wrapping, and puts it in a basket. I asked the clerk if tomatoes came on tuna. He anwered no, but I could have a side order if I wanted it. I declined, but grabbed a menu/brochure on the way to my seat. There it was listed: tuna melt, tuna salad, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, mayo. I opened up my sandwich, not only was there no mayo, but my lettuce was covered in what looked like Italian dressing, which for the record, I despise. I took my sandwich back up to the clerk, poor guy, and asked if I could have my sandwich fixed to match the description on the menu. (I asked nicely, too) He brought my sandwich back to me in a couple of minutes with tuna salad, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, and some kind of dressing. I took my sandwich back to the clerk and said, "I don't know what this stuff is, but it's not on the menu for a tuna melt." He tells me it is red wine vinaigrette and asks the sandwich maker why she put that on my sandwich. Instead of being concerned that I am standing there with the second incorrectly made sandwich, she begins to argue with the clerk, poor guy, about the recipe for the tuna melt. In a very gracious move, I tell the clerk that I will eat the sandwich as it is. Two things make me really ill about this 1) regardless of how you think a tuna melt should be made, when a customer sends a sandwich back and asks for lettuce, tomato, and mayo, for goodness sake, just put on the lettuce, tomato, and mayo! and 2) the guy that I know is the manager (because I have had to complain to him before) said nothing. He stood there just looking around at his clerk, poor guy, floundering around trying to make me happy, and the sandwich maker beligerently arguing over the recipe for a tuna melt. Here's a tip buddy, TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR EMPLOYEES!

Regardless, it doesn't matter to me because honestly, the next time I want Quiznos, I will not be going to the Walter Reed Rd location. End of story.

SSS Lunch

I am so delighted to report that in just one short week out of school, I have been on a camping trip and been to lunch with 2 out of 3 of my Sensible Shoes Sisters. I am brushing up on my blogging skills and hope to be entertaining y'all soon! Until then...woo hoo it's summer!

Just a few more days....SUMMERTIME!!!

We are in the final hours of school for students and alas, the final days of school for the teachers. I am sad that some of my students will not be returning to our school, but I must admit, this year has been eventful and sometimes trying! Thank God were we able to finish the race set before us! Nick and I hope that the next two months will be ones of much needed rest and relaxation in our new deluxe indoor/outdoor mobile vacation home! We took our maiden voyage this weekend to Myrtle Beach with no unexpected events! When do we roll again? As soon as possible! Here's to a great summer and the promise of many more posts to come!

It is official. I have eaten at Moe's twice since Wednesday. I had the Joey Bag of Donuts burrito and the John Coctostan quesadilla...all good, good, good.

Dollar Store Deals?

Okay, I love the Dollar Tree at Eutaw. It rocks! I went in there yesterday for batteries and the pink stuff sweetener and you'll never guess what I saw! A pregnancy test! Now, I don't mean to get into your business, but if being pregnant or not being pregnant was really important to me.....I don't think I would buy the test at the Dollar Tree! Just saying...........
